Our Dwarf Planet Pluto

This is my dwarf planet report.

We had the choice to write a report about a planet or a dwarf planet except earth. I picked Pluto since Pluto is my favourite dwarf planet.

Did you know that Pluto was a dwarf planet? Did you know that there were five dwarf planets? What is your favourite dwarf planet?

My Pluto Blog

At school we are doing a

Pluto task board; this is one of the tasks we had to do. We had to make a website on Canva about what we have been learning about Pluto. This is how it turned out. ⬇

This is what I wrote about it. ⬇

have you ever wondered why Pluto was a planet and now not? Pluto was discovered in 1930 by an astronomer. Since Pluto orbited the sun it was enough to call it a planet at the time.

In 2005 they discovered an even bigger object orbiting the called Eris. Then they discovered more. In 2006 world wide astronomers got together to create three criteria that a planet must have to be a plane. first they must orbit the sun, they must have enough mass to pull itself into a roundish shape and must clear other objects out of its orbit. Pluto passed the first two but didn’t pass the last one; Pluto has a messy orbit.

They call the objects that pass the first two criteria dwarf planets. Pluto is a dwarf planet with Eris, Makemake, Haumea and Ceres.

Wonder Slides

At school we have been reading Wonder. While we’ve been reading Wonder we have been doing these taskboards. On the taskboards you have to answer 5 or 6 questions in order or out of order and do 3 or 4 tasks.

What book are you reading at school? Have you ever red Wonder, if you have did you enjoy the book?

Deliciously Pink

Today is pink shirt day. This day started when a year 10 boy got bullied for wearing pink! The next day lots of other people wore pink to support him and now every year on the 17th of May since 2009 we wear a pink shirt.

At our school we have to try and wear as much pink as you can, then in each pod there will be a prize. This year the prize is a Pinky Bar. This year we also have a kindest wall that’s being run by some of the community survives club Hayley, Addie and Lilibeth.

Everybody in the school has to write a kind note and blue-tack it onto a huge white board. Here are some of the rules: don’t write a name on the note as someone might feel upset if no one writes a note to them, don’t use tape to stick your kind note on and write positive thing not negative things.

Do you feel it’s fair to judge someone on what colour clothes they wear? What does your school do for pink shirt day.

Our Shining Star

Here is my report of the sun. As you can see in my writing the sun is a star, it’s 4,500,000,000 years old and it’s just the right distance for life on earth.

Did you know that the sun was a star?

Anzac Biscuit

A few days ago I made Anzac cookies with my class, Then yesterday we had to write down a recipe. When we were baking Miss Lock made sure most of us had a turn at something. Sadly I didn’t get a turn, but it was okay because I didn’t really wan’t a turn. At the end we all got to eat them. They were so good and a golden brown type colour. Anzac biscuits are my favourite type of cookies.

Have you ever made Anzac biscuits? Do you like Anzac biscuits.c

Math Pro

At our school we have been using prime books, but this year Pr1me came out with an online website called Math Pro.

On Math Pro your teachers set tasks about what you are learning. Once you have finished all your set tasks you get 20 bonus stars and After each task you can get 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 stars. All the stars you get add up to different levels up to level 10. After you pass each level you get new characters to try on. Every month there is a challenge to try and get a gold medal. Each month it resets

Do you use Math Pro, If you do who do you like Math Pro?

Steps

This term our pod has been doing Steps. Kids have been doing Steps at my school since I started, but I didn’t. This year Miss Lock decided we are all going to do Steps and it has been really fun!

Steps is an app to help us with our spelling. It is a really great app for schools and I think I’ve come a long way from using Steps. On Steps you have a certain amount of tasks you should get done in the week and if you get all the tasks done you get a diamond medal. After you complete a task You can get a gold medal, silver medal and bronze. A gold medal means you got no answers wrong. A silver medal means you got 1 or 2 answers wrong and bronze medal means you got 3 or more wrong. If you get a bronze medal you have to do it again.

Do you do Steps or have you done steps before? If you did how did you enjoy it?

Parents are on Their Phone Way to Much

This is my agree or disagree writing. This term our teacher have been putting slides up on the screen for example they could say cats are the best pet. Then you will quickly write a short paragraph saying why you agree or disagree. After we did almost all the slides my teacher put all the slides up on Hapara then we could pick on of those topics to write about. I chose to write about Parents are on their phone to much.

Do you agree with me?
